Cheating in a test

Bryan is having an English test. He sits next to his friend, Michael, while Jill sits next to Michael.

During the text, Bryan notices that Micheal is looking at Jill’s paper continuously. Bryan is shocked as he does not think Micheal ever cheats in a test. Suddenly, the teacher walks over. She has noticed Micheal is looking at Jill’s paper too. She taps him on the shoulder. The teacher tells him quietly to follow her. She takes his test paper away and tells him to stand at the back of the classroom.

Although Bryan continues with his test, he is worried. He knows that Michael will be sent to see the stern principal. The teacher will also call his parents.

Can Computers Substitute Teachers?

Advances in technology have affected most aspects of people’s lives, particularly in the field of education. Without a doubt education and the learning process have changed dramatically since the inception of computers. Axiomatically, although sophisticated systems have made computers more astute, they are not ready to substitute teachers in the learning process, especially in the classrooms.

Indubitably, the acquisition of knowledge is more fun and easier with computers. Students learn in an enjoyable environment. Exploring using the computer constitutes an enjoyable task as compared to listening passively to the lecturers in the classroom. Most of the avid learners, on the other hand, prefer learning through a physical teachers who can answer and clarify doubts without further delay.

The presence of a teacher is essential for students as the human contact influences them in positive ways. Majority of the students realised that they are not dealing with a machine who are not capable of responding to them at once, however, they prefer to learn through human being who deserves attention and respect. If they learn through teams, they can understand the importance of teamwork and respect for other students who help them improve their social skills.

Moreover, teachers provide moral support during the learning process. Teachers are able to determine the specific needs of each individual  and respond accordingly. Teachers, are required in the learning process as they acknowledge some students’  deficiencies and tailor solutions based on their needs. By repeating the same explanation, giving extra exercises or even suggesting a private tutor, students are able to solve their problems. This reduces frustration and motivates students to strive harder. The personal touch of a teacher makes a difference in the academic journey of a student. A computer, no matter how sophisticated its software is, can hardly mimic the expertise of a teacher. Computers are unable to explain and adapt complex concepts to different individuals. Therefore, there is the necessity for a human being to be able to attend to the specific needs of each individual.

In a nutshell, the role for teachers in the learning process is still crucial. Within a year, a decade or even a century, it will continue to be implemented. No machine can replace the human interaction – teacher’s guidance, teacher’s influence, and teacher’s moral support – and its consequences. Computers cannot instill moral values and ethics in learners unlike teachers.

My Naughty Sister

My sister, Alice, is ten years old. She is a naughty girl who always plays tricks on others. She likes to hide my things when I go to sleep. When I wake up, my books and toys are always missing.

She also likes to scare people by screaming in their ears. She always comes up to me when I am doing my homework and shouts into my ear as loud as thunder. Then, she runs off smirking at me. She always gives me such a fright that I will drop my book and pencil. Once, he went too far and gave my mother a shock when she was cooking. My mother really spilled hot soup on her arm. She was so angry that she punished my sister.

I try to keep an eye on my sister whenever I can,. Hopefully, she can turn over a new leaf.

Good morning everyone. I’m sure all of you know that the haze is very bad these days. It can make you sick if you do not know how to take care of yourself. I’m here to give you some advice on what to do.

XXStay indoors as much as possible so that you breathe in less harmful particles. Keep all windows and doors shut to prevent the haze from entering your home. Do this until the air quality improves.

XXWhen you go outside, do wear a mask as the haze is quite bad. The mask will protect you from breathing in the harmful particles. Change the mask when it becomes dirty.

XXWash your hands regularly, especially when you are at public places. After going out, you should shower immediately when you get home.

XXIt is important that you eat a balanced diet to keep your body strong and healthy. Drink a lot of water to help your body get rid of the harmful substances that you have breathed in.

XXif you suddenly find you have difficulty breathing, ask your parents to take you to consult a doctor immediately.

XXI hope you have found the talk useful. If you’ve any questions, I’ll be happy to answer them.
